The first Africa Mining Summit is to be held on 25th-26th November 2015 in Hilton Bomonti, Istanbul, Turkey, with the theme “Africa: Towards Better Mining Practices”. Organised by GRV Global Ltd in collaboration with The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Turkey, the Summit will bring together African ministers in charge of mining as well as high profile CEOs and thought-leaders in the industry; development partners, financial institutions, technology providers, experts from the private sector and national sectors, among others.
In addition to a key note speech delivered by Mrs Zuma, Chairperson of AUC and a huge number of speaking sessions, there will be prescheduled one-to-one meetings, a facilitated networking zone and a Gala Dinner.
Africa is currently implementing two major initiatives, namely The Africa Mining Vision (AMV) and the Africa Maritime Strategy (AIM), endorsed by the Heads of State and Government of the African Union in 2009 and 2014 respectively. To this end, AUC will be launching a ‘Decade of Seas and Oceans’, exploring the keen African interest in ways to benefit from the ocean and sea resources, including deep sea mining.
In addition to a wide variety of VIP speakers, captains of industry, international experts and mining specialists, mining ministers from Africa and numerous mine owners, investors and operators will meet to discuss ways to drive the way forward for the mining industry, sharing insights into global market prospects and investment opportunities elsewhere in Africa.
“The Summit is aimed at introducing African state representatives to practical solutions that tackle the challenges facing the mining sector. Industry leaders gather in recognition of the urgency of the Summit as Africa is at the stage of building its infrastructure on both a national and regional scale. Africa Mining Summit is geared towards achieving a sustainable future for Africa,” the event organisers explained.
