Morocco’s first ever global mining conference and expo in the Drâa-Tafilalet region

International Drâa-Tafilalet Mining Conference (DTMC) https://www.dtmconference.com, the largest and only international mining conference and exhibition to be held in Drâa-Tafilalet region in East Morocco, will be launched in Erfoud from September 23-24, 2019 by Spire Events, a leading global events company specializing in mining and energy conferences and expos. This is the first time a major international mining expo has been held in the region to promote the mining potential of the Drâa-Tafilalet region.

Held under the auspices of the Moroccan Ministry of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development as well as the Drâa-Tafilalet Regional Council, Morocco, this inaugural DTMC event aims to be the region’s most prominent mining event to attract Moroccan, regional and global mining stakeholders, investors, banks, equipment and service providers to invest in the East Moroccan region.

What to expect at International DTMC 2019

DTMC has separate two days conference, with free-to-attend exhibition, hosting the region’s leading mining and technology providers and post conference site-tours.

More than 700 attendees, 30 exhibitors and 20 speakers are expected to converge in Erfoud for this flagship showcase. Key government ministers and officials from both the central and state governments are also expected to be at the event to share on the latest government mining policies.

Mining Industry in Morocco and Drâa-Tafilalet region

Morocco is rich in mineral resources, with the mining sector accounting for around 10 percent of the country’s GDP. Besides the abundance of phosphate which accounts for 70 percent of global reserves, Morocco also has gold, silver, copper, zinc and cobalt deposits.

Within the Drâa-Tafilalet region, the main resource is the industrial mineral barite, with production exceeding 2/3 of the national production. Globally, Morocco is also the 3rd largest producer of barite, which is most commonly for oil and gas drilling rigs.
