Mobile communications giant MTN has disclosed that it is looking to spend Sh800 million to roll out its fibre network across Kenya.
Managing Director, Tom Omariba, said this week that a huge part of the money will be spent to give Mombasa the Metro Ethernet fibre network.
After their building was destroyed in a fire in May of last year, MTN have re-opened their Mombasa office, and is eyeing small and medium business enterprises on the coast.
"The technology will enable enterprise customers with global operations to easily communicate with branches and employees worldwide. It provides high security, high speed and high quality services to businesses," Omariba said.
