Cell C, one of South Africa's a leading mobile providers, has appointed a new Chief Financial Officer - Robert Pasley.
Mr Pasley (pictured), formerly the firm's Chief Strategy Officer, has agreed to take up a combined position of Chief Financial and Strategy Officer of Cell C with immediate effect, the firm said in a statement.
A qualified Chartered Accountant and Theoretical Physicist, he has a wealth of experience in the financial intricacies of the telecommunications industry.
In 1993, he was involved in the development of Vodacom's original business plan and played a role in several large-scale business acquisitions in the telecommunications space.
Before he joined Cell C, Pasley owned and ran his own strategy consulting business.
"I am pleased that Robert agreed to accept the position. His knowledge and experience will definitely be beneficial to Cell C," said Cell C CEO Alan Knott-Craig.
Cell C is estimated to have about 17 percent market share and has come in for criticism in recent months over the quality of its network – something it blamed on capacity constraints and rival Vodacom, which it uses to provide coverage where it doesn't have its own infrastructure.
Last month the mobile provider said it had signed up a record one million customers in one month.
