Amplats hit by wildcat strike

Striking Amplats workers have returned to work after a one-day wildcat strike at its Thembelani and Khuseleka 1 mines.

According to reports some 5600 workers had gone on strike but have now returned to work.

They downed tools on Sunday after 19 Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) shop stewards were suspended last week for orchestrating an illegal protest that prevented 2400 workers at its Thembelani Mine in Rustenburg from returning to the surface from their underground shift.

"All employees are back at work," said Amplats spokeswoman Bongeka Lwana.
